Caws of art was founded in 1995 by a group of visual artists with a track record for organising grass-roots events, and is now the educational wing of Campbell Works activities. As well as running art classes and workshops in the our dedicated classroom, we initiate off-site projects as well as developing experimental tourable projects such as the portable darkroom.

By engaging and facilitating the local community to directly participate in cultural creative activities we aim to encourage creative thinking and the exploration of visual language in new and challenging ways. This communications programme has been central in the establishment of direct community involvement in exhibitions, theatre productions and street events, at grass roots level.

Caws of art artists have a wealth of experience working with people of all abilities and ages from 3 yrs to adults. We aim to be attentive to issues of cultural diversity and have undertaken commissions and run creative workshops in numerous environments for Schools, Community Groups, Local Authorities and other organisations.

With the opening of our Gallery Presentation Space, Caws of Art's educational activities have taken on new possibilities, with opportunities to become directly involved in gallery based projects, thereby giving local children and the wider community an equal platform and contemporary context in which to exhibit, as the natural development of their classroom /workshop based work.
