About Us

Originally one of many warehouses comprising the Stoke Newington Brewery, Campbell Works has for over a century housed and been shelter to an unimaginable range of objects, personal possessions and human behaviour. later becoming a sweatshop to the textile trade, manufacturing skirts and slacks for high street chic. With the economic migration of the rag trade to the Far East, Campbell Works became empty and was intermitantly used for a range of small buisness's, raves and storage for ever more surplus objects and unused possessions.

Since taking the building on in 1997, artists Neil Taylor and Harriet Murray have systematically re-ordered the internal membrane creating an opportunity for dynamic juxtaposition of people, projects and space.

By questioning assumptions of the function and politics of space and approaches to culture, Neil Taylor and Harriet Murray's artistic practice encompasses an eclectic attitude to cross- disciplinary projects, placing value on the experience, process, risk taking, and the idea of being open to failure.

Along with the exhibition program and educational projects, the development of the website and newsletter are fundamental to the evolution of the organisation.
